Dr. Shahid Masood

For those who don't know him, Dr. Shahid Masood is one of the most famous Pakistani journalist, political analyst and a TV show host who have worked for all the major news networks in the country i.e. ARY, GEO and PTV. He spent most of his childhood in Saudi Arabia and came back to Pakistan to attend high school, after which he joined Sindh Medical College to become a doctor and subsequently got the MBBS degree.

Dr. Shahid Masood has been a surgeon and professor in a medical college all his life. But he switched his field due to his interest in journalism. He started his career as a journalist and a political analyst on ARY News, a channel of ARY Digital Network. There he hosted a program "Views on News". He left ARY to air his program "Meray Mutabiq" on GEO News. After sometime he joined PTV for a short period of time and went back to GEO. Now he is back on ARY with his same program "Views on News".

Shahid Masood is widely criticized for joining PTV(Pakistan Television Network) as chairman towards the end of Musharraf regime. He continued to work on his post in PTV till early days of Zardari government. Dr. Masood and Zardari then had some differences apparantly because Masood airing his speech live without editing it. So, he had to leave the post of chairman of PTV.

The speech I mentioned above that Shahid Masood aired without editing was Zardari's address to the nation after the Marriot Blast. Zardari looked drunk and didn't even know what to say over this grievous moment. He was asking someone who was out of the camera's view to tell him what to say over such horrible death of over hundred people. So, Masood I believe did the right thing.
